Orbitals Chapter 2 Walkthrough: Into the Unknown

After Orbitals Episode 1 ends, Chapter 2 begins with the aptly named Into the Unknown. You will get back control of your characters with a new main objective: Investigate Derelict Vessel.
Objective: Investigate Derelict Vessel
You will start inside the ship. Your roles depend on the seat you chose at the end of Chapter 1. If you are in the gunner seat, you are responsible for shooting, while the pilot seat is responsible for steering. Keep moving toward the yellow marker.

On the way, shoot the floating rocks. The yellow marker is a vessel you need to reach. As you get closer, you will notice laser guns mounted on it and actively shooting at you. The gunner should take down the lasers while the pilot makes sure you do not get hit.
Once you take down the turrets, shoot the glowing white crack and enter the vessel. Once inside, park your ship.

Sub-Objective: Pick Up Scrap Hook and Pick Up Beam Cannon
Your first sub-objectives are to pick up the
Scrap Hook and
Beam Cannon . You can choose who takes which.
Once you have both tools, exit the ship. Turn left, and you will see an exit sign with an airlock at the end. Interact with it, and you will be in space.

Sub-Objective: Enter the Derelict Vessel
You will notice a cracked opening in the vessel blocked by three metallic pillars. Use the
Beam Cannon to heat each pillar, then use the
Scrap Hook to bend them down and open enough space to enter.

Once inside, keep moving forward, as the path is pretty linear. You will soon reach a dead end blocked by glass-like crystals. Break them using the
Beam Cannon and continue forward. Shortly after, you will spot two more metallic pillars on the left. Use the same technique to bend them and move in that direction.
At the end, you will find a panel. Interact with it to unlock a Train and Rec “Jump Rope.” These are the mini-games you can play back at your ship, and in total there are seven Train and Rec modules you will find throughout the entire game.

After this, return to the place where you took the left turn. You will see a blocked airlock. The player with the
Beam Cannon needs to take the path on the right and look immediately to the left. You will spot an icon where you can use the
Beam Cannon , which will open a lid. Meanwhile, the other player waits in front of the airlock and interacts with it to enter.

Once inside, interact with the panel. A short cutscene will play, freeing an android named Chibi. Your next sub-objective is to Guide Chibi to the Server Room.
Sub-Objective: Guide Chibi to the Server Room
This portion is a bit tricky, so here is how Chibi works. Chibi is low on battery and needs energy to move. When close to a charging station, it moves on its own, but when far away, it needs to be powered manually by the player with the
Beam Cannon.

The player inside with the
Scrap Hook needs to keep moving forward, while the player outside with the
Beam Cannon powers Chibi and keeps it following the inside player until Chibi reaches the next charging station. Once it does, the player inside uses the
Scrap Hook to open the airlock for the player outside.

Once the airlock is open, the player with the
Beam Cannon shoots the white crystal inside the airlock gate to open it. After the airlock opens, the player with the
Beam Cannon will see batteries in the area. Blow them up with the
Beam Cannon.

Now the player inside needs to keep moving ahead with the help of the player outside guiding Chibi. On the other side of the platform, Chibi will get close to another charging panel, so the player with the
Beam Cannon needs to keep moving forward as well. The simple logic here is to not let Chibi run out of power and to keep moving forward together.
The player with the
Scrap Hook will soon reach a rotating platform with weights on top. The player outside needs to use the
Beam Cannon on the weights to drop them while also keeping Chibi powered. Juggle the
Beam Cannon between Chibi and the weights. Once the weights drop, the player with the
Scrap Hook will fly to the other side.

After this, keep moving forward. You will be separated by a series of metallic windows with numbers. These windows can be lifted, so move in sync. The player with the
Scrap Hook raises each window, while the player with the
Beam Cannon powers Chibi so it does not run out of charge.

After the windows section, the player inside with Chibi will come across a lava floor. The player outside with the
Beam Cannon can see ice spikes above the lava. Melt the ice spikes so they fall onto the lava and create a path for the player inside to cross.

Once on the other side, the player inside needs to press the red button on the right-hand side. This will open the airlock for both players. Go through it to enter the server room, completing this sub-objective.

Sub-Objective: Download Ship Upgrade
Both players will now be in the same area. Move toward the yellow marker and press the button together. A short cutscene will play, and a new ship upgrade will be unlocked: the Push Cannon.
After this, your objective, Investigate Derelict Vessel, is completed, and your next objective becomes Head Deeper Into Space.

Objective: Head Deeper Into Space
Take the red vent to get back inside your ship. Your next sub-objective is to Enter Your Ship. Use your boosters to reach the ship. Once inside, a cutscene will play, and your sub-objectives will change to Enter Gunner Seat and Enter Pilot Seat. Just like in Chapter 1, the choice is completely yours.
Before heading to your seats, a new mini-game will be available. If you want to play Jump Rope with your partner, this is a good time to do that. Once you are done, head back to finish the mission.

Once you are both in your seats, start piloting toward the yellow marker. The path is pretty linear. If any object is coming your way, either push it or shoot it with your guns.
You will notice a blue beam on screen. Head in that direction. As you move toward it, there will be obstacles, including missiles and laser guns. Destroy the laser guns and push or dodge the missiles. Keep moving forward, and a cutscene will play, completing your objective: Head Deeper Into Space. You will see a blue light right in front of you with a yellow marker on it.

Objective: Enter the Massive Asteroid
Head toward the yellow marker and enter the asteroid. However, you will notice the supply inside is broken, so your first sub-objective is to Find a Way to Open the Gate.
Come back out of the asteroid, and you will notice a broken spaceship nearby. Move toward the yellow marker. Once you are close to the ship, take down the turrets on its door. Enter the ship and go through the gates. You will find the supply on the right side. Park your ship, and your sub-objective will change to Exit the Ship.

Sub-Objective: Exit the Ship
Exit the ship and enter the supply. Once inside, your split-screen will change to a single screen. You will notice a console next to a red panel. Press X together, and this will unlock a new ship upgrade: the Thunder Missile. Once done, exit through the door and get back into your ship.

After entering your seats, follow the yellow marker on screen. Use the Thunder Missile to power the closed chamber in front of you and enter the vent. Go through the vents. After this, you will see a radiation barrier. To remove it, look to the left for a closed chamber. Use the Push Cannon on it, and it will push a metallic orb out.
Use a Thunder Missile on the metallic orb through the screen to neutralize it. There are several such screens in this area, but the technique is the same every time: push the chamber, then use a Thunder Missile on the orb.

Once you get through this area, you will spot the purple asteroid light again. Head toward the yellow marker to enter the asteroid. Use the Thunder Missile on the broken supply to open the main chamber. This completes your objective Enter the Massive Asteroid, and a cutscene will play.
You have now finished Chapter 2. The next chapter is Deep Matter Caves.
