GTA 6 Launch Trailer Breakdown: Characters, Locations & More

The GTA 6 launch trailer is finally here, and the community’s theory about Rockstar revealing something about GTA 6 every Thursday holds true. The launch trailer for GTA 6 is around 90 seconds long, is recorded on PS5, and the trailer makes that prominent at the start, showing a “Plays Best on PS5” screen before the gameplay starts. Here is a complete GTA 6 launch trailer breakdown, which includes all the characters we spotted, what happened in the trailer, and every location as well.

GTA 6 Launch Trailer Breakdown

The very first scene opens with a sign on the roadside reading “Welcome to the Keys,” which probably suggests that Jason is entering the town. We can hear him in the background saying, “I got some trouble in the army.” This also relates to his description on the official website which reads: “After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners.”

After this, the scene shifts to Brian’s Marina, which is the boatyard of a drug runner named Brian Heder. Brian is the same guy who lets Jason live in one of his properties if Jason helps him with his dirty work. Jason is seen working on polishing a boat alongside his friend Cal Hampton. The scene then changes as Jason gets a call saying, “You have a free call from Lucia Caminos.”

The Rest of the Trailer

After a brief Rockstar Games title card, three people appear in a green open-top car. It is not clear yet whether they are directly connected to the story. From there, the trailer moves quickly through a series of scenes showing Jason and Lucia together, along with flashes of Jason’s time in the army.

Across the trailer, we got a quick look at various scenes including what appears to be cutscenes, main campaign moments, and side missions:

  • Lucia entering a bank vault during what looks like a heist
  • Lucia jumping onto the wheel of a plane while it is still moving on the runway
  • Jason and Lucia together in a making out scene
  • Real Dimez, the duo made up of Bae-Luxe and Roxy, performing on stage
  • A police chase scene
  • A brief shot of Bob
  • A helicopter scene
  • Raul Batista alongside Lucia and Jason beating someone
  • A helicopter chase sequence

There are some other details I spotted that might mean something in the GTA 6 story:

  • Lucia is wearing an ankle monitor which suggests that if she leaves a designated area or zone, it sends an alert to authorities.
  • Jason gets a call from Lucia right at the start, so it suggests that they know each other before the storyline of GTA 6 starts.
  • Lucia’s personality seems a bit underconfident in certain places; we even saw this in the extended look, where she felt a bit hesitant during the heist scene. In the launch trailer, she asks Jason “we gonna be okay?”.
  • Jason on the other side looks confident in his skills and potential. He also seems to be really caring about Lucia.

All Characters Spotted in GTA 6 Launch Trailer

Every character confirmed in the trailer:

  • Jason Duval
  • Lucia Caminos
  • Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe and Roxy): Performing a song. They have been mentioned previously on the official website as well.
  • Cal Hampton
  • Raul Batista

All Locations Spotted in GTA 6 Launch Trailer

The trailer moved the scenes really quickly, so it was hard to read the signs of the locations shown, and some of the locations were unnamed. However, here are all the locations we could spot in GTA 6 launch trailer:

  • 247 Supermarket
  • Welcome to the Keys Sign
  • Goose Key: Shown as a road sign (South of Key with an Airport sign. So probably the airport in Leonida Keys is in the south of the city)
  • Catalan Key: Shown as a road sign (North of Key)
  • Shoreline Amphitheater Mariana, Port VC Keys: Shown as a road sign during a chase scene.
  • Grassrivers
